FAQs
As a parent, why should I enroll with Beyond Teaching?

Let’s face it - finding reliable childcare and tutoring is difficult.  There are various factors a parent has to consider from experience, age, responsibility, etc.  Beyond Teaching makes this process easier for you by providing parents with a community of teachers who have experience and knowledge about working with kids.  Although the teenager next door might be a reliable option, having a teacher supervising your kids can give you a better peace of mind and a more engaging experience for your child.

How is Beyond Teaching different from other online childcare and tutoring services?

Most of our competitors are devoted to parents - and we are too.  However, we are also dedicated to helping teachers (the ideal candidate for childcare and tutoring jobs) find opportunities for extra work.  This sets us apart from our competitors because we only allow teachers to sign up as service-providers.  By doing so, we raise the level of quality among our childcare and tutor providers, which means that parents have a more elite pool of babysitters and tutors from which to choose.

Who are our teachers?

Beyond Teaching teachers come from all over the place.  When recruiting our teachers, we contacted schools of education, public and private schools, as well as alternative teaching programs, such as Teach for America.  Finally, teachers found out about us by word of mouth.  Our teachers range from student teachers working to finish their master’s degree, teachers in their first few years of teaching, retired teachers who still want to utilize their skills outside of the classroom, and teachers in a transition period. Ultimately, our teachers are diverse and varied, which means there’s probably a potential fit for you within our community.  Start browsing and find a teacher that works for you!

How do I select dates to block off on my teacher calendar?

To show parents that you are not available, you can click on a date in the calendar section of your teacher profile to block it off.  When you click on it, it will turn red.  If you want to reverse this action, click on the date again and it will turn back to white.  You can only do this for current and future dates.
